Getting Ready for The Family Farmed Expo

[dropcap1]W[/dropcap1]e are getting really excited about next weeks Family Farmed Expo at UIC. The festival, now in its 6th year, focuses on all aspects of supporting healthy, local food systems in the Chicago area. While many events present us with the end product, the wonderful food, beverage and products that result from the efforts of farmers and other green entrepreneurs. Family Farmed is unique as it seeks to cast a wider net, recognizing that without the help of financing and business planning assistance, many of these small businesses face an uphill battle bringing their ideas to market. At the Expo, a number of businesses (of which we were proud to be one) have been invited to participate in a financing fair, connecting investors and bankers with eco-friendly business owners. Additionally, the fair will is hosting a business plan competition in conjunction with the Chicago Booth School to assist two local businesses in the early stages of development. They will receive in depth guidance in creating a business plan to secure financing that will help take their efforts from idea to execution.
